After one week of fierce battle, already our Hollywood Hunger Games have proven far beyond the walk in a forest that some expected! Reality TV stars and YouTube celebs took a beating this week as Districts 8 and 12 are completely eliminated from the competition, accounting for half of the first eight celebrity tributes to fall in round one. Today we say farewell to Snooki, Steven Tyler, Drake, Kim Kardashian, Ben Flajnick, Perez Hilton and YouTubers iJustine and Ray William Johnson.
Who's outperforming the competition? Surprisingly, "Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder surged from the start of the competition, finishing round one with a majority vote of 17%, followed by teen queen Demi Lovato with 13% and mother monster Lady Gaga at 8%. Jimmy Fallon and gossip blogger Necole Bitchie also scored big points through the week, placing second and third (respectively) in the days before Lovato's active fan base went to bat for the self-proclaimed fan of the book.
If you've been living under a log, for three weeks we're bringing "The Hunger Games" to Hollywood and have thrown 24 of your favorite celebs into the virtual arena to battle it out for your votes! As readers of the book already know, each of the 12 districts of Panem must send one boy and one girl to fight to the death in the arena for The Capitol's annual Hunger Games. While our version features far less bloodshed, it's just as brutal as we're cutting eight celebrity tributes every week leading up to the film's release on Friday, March 23. The districts are as follows:
