Lamar Odom made a return to Dallas Mavericks last Saturday with wife Khloe Lardashian cheering him from the stands.
He had been absent for the last ten games.
"It was really personal, something I had to tend to," Radaronline quoted him as saying.
"Mark Cuban is a great owner for understanding and knowing that sometimes we have to fix what's going on off the court in order for us to fix what's on the court," he added.
It was earlier reported that Odom's father, who has long struggled with heroin addiction, was "gravely ill" with an undisclosed problem.
The basketball player's return to his team was a solid one. He scored nine points in 18 minutes of play. He also had five rebounds and blocked a season-high three shots. (ANI)
