For those who love Kim Kardashian, t'was a sad day for her new fragrance, True Reflection, last week at the London Hotel in West Hollywood. Yes, poor Kim Kardashian was flour-bombed while walking the red carpet in an attempt to promote it.
These stunts are usually the work of those affiliated with PETA, as Kardashian continues to wear fur as well as use it abundantly in her clothing line.
Immediately upon the flour-bombing, officials scrambled to test the substance, while Kardashian was ushered away to be, ahem, "de-floured" so to speak.
Meanwhile, the woman who flour-bombed Kardashian was detained by police and released after Kim said she would not press charges. However, after some consideration, Kim may be having a change of heart.
"I said earlier, no, I wasn't [going to file a complaint]," Kim told EOnline. "I am just going to think about it, because I don't want someone to think they can really get away with that. So we are going to handle that."
While PETA has denied any involvement, they are supportive of woman's right to flour-bomb saying, "We don't believe Kim would be so shortsighted as to go after this woman. But if she does, we'll definitely look at how to maximize exposure to the cruel fur industry, and that could mean defending the activist if she wishes."
The Kardashian clan has had ties with PETA, as back in 2008, Kim's sister, Khole Kardashian, stripped off her clothes in one of their sexy ad campaigns.
"Compassion is the fashion this holiday season, so join me in boycotting fur," Khloe had said. "With all the stylish and super-warm things you can wear, it's easy to have a killer look without killing animals."
Perhaps her sister Kim was not listening.
Gone are the Lucille Ball days when husbands were begged for fox stoles by their wives. It's now highly unfashionable to have a head and legs dangling from your neck. In 2012, it has been made abundantly clear that fur is out. Faux fur is in. Yes, times are changing and our furry friends are benefitting from humans who are more invested than ever in giving them rights the have never enjoyed before. Yes, this is becoming a "Food Inc." nation (sorta) and people are more increasingly aware of animal suffering. Particularly the suffering of the cute ones.
On the flip-side, however, the flour-bomb "assault" (yes, that's what it's officially called) on Kardashian could lead to new laws on just how close the public can get to Hollywood royalty at red carpet events, with the fear being that such proximity could lead to more violent attacks. The assault on Kardashian caused a momentary panic as those in attendance tried to figure out what the white substance was – bringing us all back to those scary, scary days of anthrax.
