This past Thursday night Kim Kardashian got a little extra powder on her face to go along with her makeup for the red carpet in West Hollywood. Unfortunately for Kim this was not approved by her stylist, but was from a hater standing in the crowd. The young woman (the name was not released) walked up with a bag of flower and threw it over Kim's head. From there the young woman tried to walk away but was found and taken by security. Her reason for throwing the flower on to Kim's head was for her ex-husband Kris Humphries.
Reaction:
Kim's reaction was fairly normal for a celebrity getting something thrown at/onto them. While I, a normal college woman would have been very angry, Kim Kardashian does not have that luxury. It seems as if Kim has received training for this type of incident because instead of getting angry or flustered, Kim was surprised (normal) but put her head down and walked out of the spotlight.
The Access Witness said when Kim later came back out into the spotlight, she was " very bubbly, very high-spirited and she actually joked about it,"
Public Relations Perspective:
The public does not often agree with every single action that a person of celebrity status makes. In fact, there is always going to be someone who does not agree with a normal persons action as well.
Kim Kardashian did what she was probably trained to do in a situation like this. She put her head down and did not say what was most likely running through her mind. She was most likely holding back a lot during this time. The fact that she successfully held back her feelings towards the young woman who embarrassed her in front of thousands/millions of people shows that she has been trained by the right people. The fact that Kim Kardashian, a woman known for her beauty and association with fashion was embarrassed live and was able to keep her composure shows that Kim Kardashian has a PR representative helping her with how to react to certain situations so that her reputation is not damaged.
The next move that Kim Kardashian made was also most likely talked over by her PR representative. When Kim came back from cleaning up with a "bubbly and high-spirited" reaction it obvious that someone was there to calm her down and tell her what to do next.
My POV:
In my opinion Kim Kardashian was very responsible with her reaction towards the flour being thrown onto her. She is someone many people do not take seriously because of her image and recent marriage escapade (where she was married for a very short time to the man that the young woman was defending) and so for her in particular, it was very important to think before reacting (which she did).
My mom always says that if someone embarrasses you, try to go along with it by creating a joke out of it – be able to laugh at yourself (maybe my mom should look into public relations?). I agree with this to a certain extent, however in this situation where flour was thrown onto her – laughing and joking about it was one of the best decisions Kim could have made. It shows that Kim is easy-going and doesn't care about her image as much as it may seem – that their is more to her than just a beautiful woman.
