In case you haven't been tuned into Twitter, the LA Times, Facebook, Yahoo! News, The Huffington Post, or any other form of social media or internet news outlet, Kim Kardashian has made the announcement that she would like to be Mayor of Glendale.

Yes, the part-time actress, reality TV star, famous person, wife, model, fashion designer, celebrity, and spokeswoman has her sight set on politics. Although this proclamation is most likely a publicity stunt, like her 72-day marriage, let's consider it to be real for a moment.

The first obstacle to her campaign is that the mayor is not an elected position in Glendale. The person is chosen by city council members from amongst their members. So Kim K must actually get elected into a Glendale council chair, serve for a few years, then have her co-members select her to rule in the top spot.

But in her favor is the sizable Armenian population in Glendale, around 25%. Kim's father Robert Kardashian is a third generation Armenian American. The 2010 Census notes that over half of the residents of Glendale are foreign born.

Furthermore, the publicity could work wonders for Glendale, which is largely ignored or unknown outside of SoCal. It is certainly less famous than its nearby neighbors, Burbank and Pasadena, which are common settings for popular sitcoms.

If Kim Kardashian was elected to the city council, served her time, and became mayor, we could expect some immediate changes. I could see her instituting a local "Day of Pampering," where Glendale residents would be allowed to skip work in order to enjoy the celebrity lifestyle of facials, manicures, waxing, and massage services.

What better way to stimulate the local economy by having everyone go to the Americana at Brand to enjoy some upscale shopping and a relaxing day at The Spa? Kim, if you're reading this, you need to make this happen. Use your celebrity powers for the good of all Glendale. If you do that, you have my city council vote. And, please, don't abandon your mayoral duties after 72 days.

The Spa in Glendale puts out weekly blog posts to describe our massage services and keep you up to date on the latest developments, deals, and specials.
