Would we still be Keeping Up With The Kardashians if they looked more like…well, the Joneses? (No offense.) In a sit-down with Oprah Winfrey, E!'s "royal family" gets real about what makes them so appealing to the general public, and their answer just may annoy surprise you.
"They're not skinny women," Rob Kardashian tells Oprah Winfrey in a clip from Sunday's episode of Oprah's Next Chapter. "They're not models here."
"You are so sweet," big sis Khloe Kardashian Odom chimes in, sarcastically.
"I am just saying you're great role models for women, young girls," Rob explains.
With a sex tape and a few other "blemishes" on their public persona, some would disagree with that claim, but the Kardashian sisters admit that – like 'em or not – their looks played a very large part in their quick rise to the top.
"I don't think it would have happened if we were all like, skinny, pretty models. I think it has to do with us, the curves, the dark hair," says Kim. "I think it was combination of — I remember when the wave of Jennifer Lopez and Salma Hayek and these beautiful Hispanic women came to light and I looked up to them and I loved them, but then I was like, 'Where are like Middle Eastern women?' I think we kind of helped in that category or helped broaden that… People just have it. I can't explain what it is."
Oprah's Next Chapter featuring the Kardashian family airs Sunday, June 17 at 9|8c on OWN.
